Kwarta Tajba Presents Festival of Innovative Music

The "Site 1" of the festival will take place on the evenings of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of August 2021 at Misrah L-Isptar in Ħaż-Żebbuġ. To note that the "Site 2" of the festival will take place on the same dates, always in Haz-Zebbug, at the Kappella tal-Madonna tal-Abbandunati, , with different artists involved.

The evenings will feature the three following performances:

  • Kburija Maltija by Josue Formosa (Director); Vince Fabri (Lyrics and Music); Being Creative All Together in collaboration with Chiara Hyzler (Script); Natalino Formosa (Set); Being Creative All Together (Producer). This performance is about an historic act by the Maltese people after the World War II. It happened on the 25th of March 1945, when a football match was organised between Malta and Yugoslavia. On that day, the British anthem played when the Maltese people stood up and screamed and sang The Maltese Anthem in unison.

  • Mel’Isma’ by Nicole Spiteri (Flute); Isabella Borg (French Horn); Christine Vella (Saxophone); Jessica Ellul (Clarinet); Sabrina Sacco (Narrator & Actor); Dr Anton John Mifsud (Script); Daniel Vella (Producer & Composer). MEL’ISMA’ is a multi-disciplinary project, in which the audience will experience the outlook from a female adolescent point of view. Female artists will perform during this musical-theatrical project, complementing one another and engaging the audience.

  • Tinsiex li Neżisti by William Debattista (clarinet); Joseph Vella (alto saxophone); Christopher Spiteri (tuba); Julia Miller (piano); Jean Pierre Cassar (percussion); Francesca Aquilina (voice), amongst others. This project “Song Cycle” combines original music, poetry, dramatic prose, movement, painting and the participation of the audience.
