Bejn Linja u Oħra

Prepare to embark on an imaginative metaphorical journey of discovery around Valletta on Saturday 12th June, as part of Bejn Linja u Oħra — a celebration of Maltese language.

Bejn Linja u Oħra

The performance will take place at Valletta’s noted Pjazza Teatru Rjal at 9pm, and will include performances by actors Charlotte Grech, Lee-N Abela, Marceline Galea, Vanessa Aquilina, Paul Portelli, Patrick Tanti, Stephen Mintoff and Karl Cassar, with the production’s music directed by Daniel Cauchi.

The groundbreaking script includes verses from more than 30 poets, including ‘the Bard of Malta’ Dun Karm, Achille Mizzi, Maria Grech Ganado, Mario Azzopardi, Oliver Friggieri, Immanuel Mifsud and Walid Nabhan, and was compiled by Norbert Bugeja, Ray Calleja and Albert Marshall.

Originally conceived as an in-situ performance taking place on a walk round the city, due to preventative measures designed to help combat the spread of the COVID-19, the evening has been re-imagined to take place at Teatru Rjal, with the performance scheduled to include image, rhythm, movement and verse. Veteran actor, presenter and director Ray Calleja is at the helm for this production, directing our journey through the lives and experiences of Valletta’s population across the centuries.

Get ready for a story of grief, sorrow, adventure and exploration, as Bejn Linja u Oħra guides us on a multi-sensory expedition through Valletta’s fascinating streets, and prepare to discover the rare gems and other hidden treasures the city has to offer.
